On Monday at 12 o’clock the message came from Bane Nor that the Nordlandsbanen has been closed between Rognan and Dunderland.

The background is that there has been a report of a landslide south of Saltfjellet, between Bolna and Dunderland.

Therefore, the train line is closed.

There is red preparation on the line, for fear of slipping with the large amounts of precipitation that have arrived and are expected.

AN is awaiting comment from Bane Nor’s press guard.

Landslides and water

At 1:30 p.m., press officer Harry Korslund confirms that there has been a landslide in Krokstrand.

– The section between Mo and Bolna is closed, partly due to the landslide and partly due to the large amounts of water between Mo and Dunderland, Korslund reports to AN.

He dares not say when Nordlandsbanen reopens.

– Our best advice is for those who are going to travel by train to contact the train company. It is not clear when we will be able to resume traffic, continues the press guard.

According to him, there are people on their way to the site of the landslide, but crews have not started clean-up work at 1:30 p.m. and do not know the extent of the landslide itself.

– Due to the fact that it is so unsafe in terms of slipping, we do not run trains on the stretch, says Korslund.
