It was on Sunday afternoon that the disappearance of a teenage boy was reported to the police in Bodø. Then they had last seen him in Valnesfjord on Sunday night.

– He was last seen walking alone on the road at a private address in Valnesfjord. This must have been outside a house where there had been a party, Operations Manager Tommy Bech in the Nordland Police District tells Avisa Nordland.

Police were not notified of the boy’s disappearance until Sunday afternoon. After talking to the boy’s parents and the people he was with yesterday, the police launched a search in Valnesfjord.

– Lives in Fauske, but was last seen in Valnesfjord. This is where we are now concentrating the search, in the area around Stemlandveien, as well as talking to people in his circle of friends, Bech says.

– How many people are now involved in the search for the child?

– It’s still getting more crowded. We enlist the help of the Red Cross Auxiliary Corps, Norwegian People’s Aid, a drone team from Salten Brann and Norwegian Rescue Dogs, says Bech at 7 p.m.

– There are 11 people from the Bodø Red Cross taking part in the search, Gunnar Andersen tells AN.

It was less degrees and windy in Valnesfjord all Sunday.

– It is a factor that we carry with us in the search, says Bech.

– Search in own buildings

Residents in the Valnesfjord area say search teams are searching both outdoors and in garages and other buildings in the area.

On Sunday night, the Stemland Farm Kindergarten was used as a hub for exploration work. Here, there are many volunteers who have turned up and are waiting to be assigned work duties along with the rest of the exploration teams.

On Sunday night, the police ask the people of Valnesfjord to search for the boy in their own buildings and outbuildings.

– It is more important for people to apply in their own buildings than to come to the kindergarten. The most important thing tonight is to organize the exploration work well, says the operations manager at Avisa Nordland’s site.
