Several mountain passes in southern Norway are closed due to storms and there are generally strong winds along the entire coast. There have also been several landslides in the country on Saturday, and Henningsvær is now isolated.
At Henningsvær in Nordland, a rockslide occurred this afternoon at Henningsværveien, which is the only road into town.
– The road to Henningsvær is closed due to a landslide and will not be opened until after investigations have been conducted in daylight tomorrow, says operations manager Ulf Slettan.
The area that is closed is between Rørvik and Festvåg, county road 816.
Therefore, the town is isolated and the police say they still do not know the extent of the landslide because it is dark and the weather is bad.
– But such large stones have reached the road that it is not advisable to leave it open.
No injuries were reported after the landslide.

In Oldedalen in Stryn, a landslide occurred this morning on County Road 5724. The landslide did not cause personal injury. According to Vegtrafikksentralen, the landslide is 40 meters wide and covers the entire road.
– We experience every year that there is a landslide along Oldedalsvegen, be it a snow landslide or a rock and earth landslide. It’s just as scary every time, says Sissel Haugerudbråten Sunde.
He lives four kilometers from the landslide and sees marks on the mountainside from where he lives.
– We are happy that it went well and that no one took away the landslide.
Traffic operator Tore Tysse confirms that there has been a landslide and rocks in Oldedalen.
– Covers the entire road. The landslide has gotten pretty high from the top so a geologist needs to come out and look at it.
The geologist will be in place on Monday.

Working to keep the roads open
The strong storm hits southern Norway.
On Friday, the Meteorological Institute and NVE sent up to 45 danger advisories for the weekend, warning of strong gusts, high water levels, floods, landslides and generally a lot of precipitation.
On the E134 over Haukelifjell, there is now column driving, the national road 7 over Hardangervidda is closed, the provincial road 50 between Aurland and Hol and the provincial road between Tyin and Årdal is closed.
– There is a storm in the mountains. We are working what we can to keep the roads open, Vegtrafikksentralen Vest traffic operator Jørgen Bødtker tells VG.
The junctions of Highway 13 Vikafjellet, E16 Filefjell and Highway 52 Hemsedal remain open.
Bødtker isn’t sure if the transitions that are still open will be there during the afternoon and evening.
It is also not sure when the closed crossings can reopen, because many storms have been reported in the mountains over the next 24 hours.
– It is the contractors and those who work on the mountain who make the decision about when they can reopen the road and if it is justified to drive these sections, says Bødtker.

The worst in Møre og Romsdal
The meteorologist on duty at the Bente Wahl Meteorological Institute says that tomorrow there will also be a lot of wind in the mountains.
– There are storms in many places on the mountain and also with snow showers. Then there will be little visibility.
At an altitude of 1900 meters in Jotunheimen, there are wind gusts of up to 45 meters per second.
– It will also blow a lot throughout the morning, and you have to take into account poor visibility and driving. It can vary with the blue sky and the sun, until suddenly becoming completely dense with snow.
Wahl says it’s generally blowing hard over the entire southern Norwegian coastline right now.
– Strong gale in much of the coast. There is a strong low pressure in the Atlantic Ocean.
Most of the winds are at Møre og Romsdal, where there is a complete storm with gusts of up to 34 meters per second.
– It will continue to blow throughout the night, says Wahl.
