Stops in cross-border trade and duty-free sales after the crown outbreak have led to sales records for the wine monopoly. In August they sold 9 million liters of alcohol.

A recent report from Vinmonopolet shows that sales increased 45 percent in August, compared to the same month last year.
This year, the products sold for almost 7.5 million liters during August, compared to just over 5.5 million in 2019.
“There was one less sales day in August this year than last year, one fewer Thursday and Friday and one more Monday; The evolution of the sales adjusted to the calendar is therefore approximately 45 per cent “, states the report.
Viken leads the county level with a 53 percent increase, followed by Vestfold and Telemark, which increased by 43 percent, and Innlandet by 41 percent.
The report also states that there are large geographical differences in the increase in sales, due to stops in cross-border trade.
Vestland saw 20 percent growth, while Møre og Romsdal had an 18 percent increase in sales in August.
– The growth in sales is mainly due to an almost total disruption of duty-free sales and cross-border trade. But also the reduction of activity in the bar industry and the majority of Norwegians on vacation in Norway this summer, contributes to the increase in sales by Vinmonopolet, says communications manager Jens Nordahl in the report.
Red wine, white wine and boxed rose wine account for most of the increase, while the best-seller list remains largely unchanged.
