Donald Trump says the states of Texas and Vermont will allow some industries to resume operations starting Monday, while monitoring infection trends.
Trump’s remarks on Saturday came in the wake of Friday’s press conference when he called for a gradual reopening of the United States as soon as possible.
On Saturday, the president said, according to Reuters news agency, that Texas and Vermont will begin removing the restrictions as early as Monday, while Montana will do the same next Friday.
“We continue to see a number of positive signs that the virus has reached its peak,” Trump said.
In Texas’ Austin state, Trump supporters rallied Saturday for reopening, yelling, among other things, “America! USA!” And “Get to Work!”
Four million tested
However, several governors in the United States warn against loosening the restrictions, saying they will wait until better testing opportunities are available, so that they are more confident in the picture provided by the infection.
According to Trump, four million Americans are being tested.
– It is more than double that of any other country on earth. What we have done is fantastic.
