Requires FHI approval.

If FHI approves the use of residual doses from the vaccine vials, Norway can receive an additional 500,000 doses out of the 2.5 million doses Norway can receive from the Pfizer vaccine.

The glasses, which are intended for five doses, can hold six to seven doses, according to Politico.

– When you use narrow syringe tips with a small volume of kill, you can get more than five doses out of the vial, confirms Pfizer press manager Joachim Henriksen to VG.

Last week, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended that the additional doses be used in the United States.

For VG, the director of the Line Vold department of the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) says that they consider how many doses each vial can give, but that in case of a change, they should make their own guidelines for who will use the vaccines.

Steinar Madsen, medical director of the Norwegian Medicines Agency, tells the newspaper that experiments show that it is “mostly okay” to get six doses out of each glass.

– This is not approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), but the FDA has said it is fine professionally. This is also our advice to FHI, says Madsen. (© NTB)
