In recent weeks, the Bergen municipality has faced an unexpected challenge in vaccination: People do not answer the phone when crown employees call to offer them an hour.
The problem has become so widespread that the municipality has posted a call on its own website.
– It seems that many refuse to answer phones that come from unknown numbers. This costs us more time and work, and leads to fewer people being offered vaccines than usual, says the head of corona’s telephone department, Wenche Thorsen Strømmen, in the report.

Many will not provide personal information.
For Dagbladet, the department head says they understand that people are skeptical.
– It’s basically good that people have agreed that you should be careful. We came out with this to reassure people that we are the ones calling and that we will also call during the Easter holidays, Strømmen says.
Another challenge for callers is that more people do not want to provide personal information.
– This is the information we need to record the necessary information, she says.
Called people are asked to provide a social security number and are asked, among other things, if they have taken any other vaccinations in the past seven days, if they are in quarantine, if they have been corona test, if you have been abroad or have respiratory symptoms.
Facing Bergensavisen, who first mentioned the issues, Medical Director Trond Egil Hansen also encourages people to answer the phone.
– It is important to pick up the phone when it rings, as this can be an important message regarding infection monitoring or vaccination.
There are currently no consequences for progress.
Currently, people in risk groups for severe covid-19 courses are called with an offer of a vaccine in Bergen. The municipality has received lists of GPs it cares for.
– How extensive is the problem? Has it had consequences for progress?
– We got hold of the majority, but some are skeptical. I don’t have an exact part. So far it has not had consequences for progress, but it is clear that it takes time when we have to call people many times. We don’t want people to miss their class.
For people who are not in the risk groups, but anxiously waiting to know when they can receive their dose of the vaccine, Strømmen ensures that everyone will be notified when it approaches.
– The municipality will go out with information to each group when it is their turn.
