Difficult driving conditions, strong gusts of wind and heavy rain characterize the second day of Christmas in many places. And it looks like the bad weather will continue for a few more days.
– In the mountain passes, there may be changes with more column driving throughout the day, and we cannot rule out more closures. More winds have been reported later today, he says.
This is the status of the mountain passes at 09:30:
- RV. 13 Vikafjellet – closed
- Fv. 27 Venabygdsfjellet – closed
- RV. 7 Hardangervidda – column
- E16 Filefjell: open, but can become a steering column on short notice.
- Fv. 53 Tyin-Årdal; open. May be closed on short notice
- Rv 7 Hardangervidda – column, can be closed on short notice
- Fv. 50 Aurland – Hol – driving columns.
- RV. 52 Hemsedalsfjellet: open, but can become a column on short notice
The other mountain passes to the south and north are open, but in several places there is snow, ice cover and reduced visibility.
Vegtrafikksentralen warns that there may be a convoy driving into Saltfjellet or a closure on short notice.
– People should check before driving. If possible, it would be wise to wait, says northern region traffic operator Bente Nyland.
Danger warning in the north
Also in the north, driving conditions are expected to be harsh and difficult. The strongest wind is coming today and two danger warnings have been sent, both of strong winds.
– There will be strong local streaks. Also, there may be some snowdrifts with strong winds. It will reduce visibility conditions, especially in the mountains, says on-call meteorologist Per Egil Haga.
Snowdrifts occur when there is a strong wind and combined with snow. For those who are in the mountains and travel especially in mountain passes, it will give very little visibility.
– It can be difficult to see and vegans can fly again. Sunday is supposed to be the worst, but it yields well beyond Monday, explains the meteorologist.
Danger of overturning wood
A yellow warning for strong wind gusts has been issued for both Sørlandet and parts of Austlandet today. Wind gusts of between 15 and 20 m / s are expected. Near the coast it can reach up to 30 m / s.
Vegtrafikksentralen Øst asks vegans to be vigilant.
