On Monday and Tuesday, the first snowfall of the season will occur in various locations in southern Norway, and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow warning.
There can be up to 20 centimeters of snow in various highlands, such as the mountainous areas of western Norway and the interior of Telemark.
– The higher up the ground you are, the safer you are to get less degrees and less rainfall, on-duty meteorologist Martin Granerød tells Dagbladet.

Minus degrees ahead
At Røros in Trøndelag, it started snowing already on Saturday night, and by Monday morning it was still white in several places.
– It seems that the temperature will remain on the negative side for the next few days, says Granerød.
However, during the day since Thursday inclusive, more degrees in altitude have been reported in Trøndelag and elsewhere.
– During the week it is mild again, and then places like Geilo and the high areas where there are settlements, will get more degrees, says the meteorologist.
Traffic difficulties
The areas around the Oslo Fjord will likely receive precipitation in the form of sleet, before it turns into rain.
However, in high areas like Holmenkollen in Oslo, there can be snow and there can be traffic difficulties in the eastern heights of Norway.
– When you drive from Oslo to Drammen, where it is 150-200 meters above sea level, there can be sleet at night, he says.
It can also be slippery on the roads, but during Tuesday the temperature will turn to the positive side.
Smooth roads
On Sunday, there were also several accidents related to slippery roads on Møre og Romsdal.
Based on the incidents in Møre og Romsdal, the police issued the following request on Sunday:
– Now people have to think before getting in the car and driving. The snow begins to slide. When I went to work, I saw for myself that in some places there was some snow on the road, operations manager Fylling told Dagbladet.
Time winner
Northern Norway, however, is the weather winner this week, reports service meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis. Although it is cold, there is still sun and little rain.
Towards the end of the week there may still be snow, mainly in Troms and Finnmark.
– In Indre Troms will probably stay for a while. In outdoor areas, like Tromsø, it will melt during the day. It can get slippery because it melts during the day and will be less degrees at night, Sarchosidis tells Dagbladet.
Falling snow will remain for the most part.
– But there are no large quantities.
