Unnecessary travel abroad must be banned, demands Raymond Johansen

– If we manage to reduce the level of infection in Oslo and Norway once again, then we cannot afford to let the new imported virus variants come back to us. Johansen tells Dagbladet.

– First of all, we need to establish a requirement of necessity to travel and that all unnecessary trips abroad be prohibited, he emphasizes.

However, the Minister of Justice and Emergency Management, Monica Mæland, believes that Norway already has very strict rules.

– We have, and have always had, among the strictest entry restrictions in Europe. We have continuously tightened the rules, whether it is who is allowed to enter the country, more and more testing requirements and more stringent quarantine requirements.says Mæland to NTB on Saturday night.

– I have the impression that people in general comply with the measures and recommendations. I also have the impression that there are fewer trips abroad than expected. We have introduced strict testing and quarantine requirements for everyone returning from abroad, but we must establish status after Easter, he adds.

In the last 24 hours, 640 new corona infections have been registered in the country, 432 less than a week ago. In Oslo, where infection rates have been high recently, the number of new cases is also somewhat lower than in recent times. There were 228 new infections on Saturday, 16 below the previous week’s average.
