Two died and five were injured on Halloween after a man in his 20s went crazy with a sword in central Quebec, Canada.

Police denied this morning Norwegian time that the attack was an act of terrorism.

“There is no indication that the suspect had motives other than purely personal motives,” Quebec police wrote. Twitter at 10.20 Norway time.

Police write that the situation is under control, but ask the public to stay away from the old town while the tactical and technical investigation is carried out.

Police spokeswoman Étienne Doyon confirms the extent of the tragedy against Canadian broadcaster CBC.

– Our hearts go out to the families of the deceased. On behalf of the police, I offer my condolences, said Doyon according to La Presse.

He stated that the extent of the damage varies, for the five who have been transferred to a local hospital.

When the police spokesman met with the press in front of the National Assembly, he did not want to say if the police know the arrested man, in his 20s.

The man is said to have been in possession of a sword, according to Le Soleil newspaper.

It was around 10 pm local time when the police received reports of several armed attacks. Large forces moved into the area around Parliament Hill in Old Quebec.

The police signed Twitter that the perpetrator was dressed in a medieval costume. The townspeople were asked to stay home.

According to the newspaper Le Soleil, the man attacked his first victim in the Château Frontenac area. So he must have been armed with a sword.

The newspaper writes that three young women found a bloody man on the ground with stab wounds to the upper body. Another victim was reportedly stabbed on rue des Remparts.

Witnesses are said to have said the man also had a firearm. A gun and a wig have been found on rue des Remparts, according to Le Soleil.

Much of the city center was cordoned off while police pursued the perpetrator.

A security guard is said to have located a suspect at the port and alerted the police, who arrested the man at 01:00 local time, 07:00 Norwegian time.

The man surrendered without resistance, hands raised. He must have been lying on the ground, barefoot and frozen, with a sword at his side.

The man’s car with the sword sheath and several jugs of gasoline was found nearby.
