The police now have control over a perpetrator.
The perpetrator must have contacted the police himself. The person in question is an acquaintance of the police.
– The aggressor himself contacted and asked for help. He said he had been in conflict with another person and claimed he had stabbed the person in question, Troms Police District Operations Manager Lennart Steffensen tells NRK.
Police inform NRK that the stabbing took place in an apartment.
There is a kindergarten in the same area, but it is not known whether the kindergarten has been affected in any way. iTromsø writes that there were about 30 children playing as the action unfolded.
– How many people are involved in the incident?
– As of now, we have an overview of four people who were present. We have arrested and treated the perpetrator. Three others were present, of whom two were injured, says the operations manager.
The police will not say how seriously injured those involved are, but they will have been treated by the health service. They were transported to the North Norwegian University Hospital in Tromsø.
It is currently unclear what the background to the stabbing was.
– It’s too early to say anything about a possible motive, says Steffensen.
The police are in control of the situation and are in the process of ending the operation on the spot.
