Two assassination attempts in two minutes in the same neighborhood

Night to Friday March 20 of last year: Three young men run after a man at the Sigurd Lies gate in Torshov. When they catch him again, they hit, kick, fluff and sting with a machete. A neighbor sees what is happening and screams. This ends the attack.

The victim has suffered life-threatening head injuries in the form of a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage, but survives because he receives emergency medical treatment.

Just two minutes later, on Edvard Grieg Avenue in Torshov, just one block from the first incident of violence, it struck again. A young man stabs another with a knife or machete in the upper part of the body.

A bite to the chest is fatal, but it also manages because it quickly receives medical help.

Nine were arrested

Following the incident, nine youths were charged with attempted murder.

Following a massive investigation in the Oslo police district, the prosecutor charged five people: two young men are charged with attempted murder after the first incident of violence, while one young man is charged with attempted murder after the second incident of violence.

In connection with the second episode of violence, two more men have been charged with aggravated assault.

According to the prosecutor in the case, the prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø, those involved in the case belong to two different groups.

The prosecution believes that the man who was attacked in the first episode is a friend of the perpetrators of the second episode.

At the same time, the men behind the first episode are friends with the man who was attacked in the second.

Does not explain

Police believe that the assassination attempts occurred independently of each other, but that those involved belong to the same communities.

– Through the investigation, the police have received information about what is likely to be the subject of the conflict, but I think this will become clearer at the main hearing, says Henriksbø.

He does not hide that it has been a demanding investigation since several of those involved have not wanted to give explanations to the police.

– It is very serious when these young people arm themselves with dangerous tools in public space and then use them among themselves to resolve conflicts.

Charged with another assassination attempt

One of those charged with attempted murder, an 18-year-old man, was charged with a new murder attempt after a man was shot in Bjølsen in February.

Police believe the 18-year-old shot a person of the same age in the shoulder as a result of a conflict between the two.

As the man is detained with a letter and a visitation ban, police lawyer Rita Parnas does not want to comment on the investigation to TV 2.

The 18-year-old’s defender, lawyer Stian Mæland, tells TV 2 that his client denies criminal guilt in both cases. He did not want to explain to the police.

Everybody refuses

The other two accused of attempted murder have Vidar Lind Iversen and Jon Anders Hasle as defenders, respectively. Both lawyers inform TV 2 that both clients deny their criminal guilt.

The two men accused of violence are defended by Morten Kjensli and Bjørn Tore Vagle. Both of his clients also deny criminal guilt.

The aggrieved have been appointed as assistant attorneys to Jan-Arne Isaksen and Arild Humlen, but do not wish to comment on the case.

The case will be heard in the Oslo District Court on June 8. Nine hearing days have been reserved for the main hearing.
