The social media giant says the accounts violate spam and tampering guidelines.

Many of the Twitter accounts used the same choice of words in the messages they shared, including: “YES, I’M BLACK AND VOTE FOR TRUMP !!!” writes BBC.

Twitter has not indicated how many accounts are in question or who is behind them.

Thousands of followers in a matter of days

One of the accounts that was deleted had a short but special run on Twitter, writes the Washington Post.

The account had a photo of a black cop, President Donald Trump, and the words “VOTE REPUBLICAN.” Six days after the account was activated last week, it had posted eight messages, but gained 24,000 followers, with the most popular message receiving 75,000 likes.

These urns arouse outrage: – It’s crazy

On Sunday, the account was removed for violating the tampering guidelines.

The company says they are continuing to investigate this type of activity and says they are considering deleting even more accounts if they break the guidelines.

“Our teams are investigating this type of activity and will take action in accordance with Twitter’s rules if tweets violate the guidelines,” company spokeswoman Trenton Kennedy said in a statement.

Clemson University social media researcher Darren Linvill tells the Washington Post that he has found more than 20 accounts that have received up to 256,000 retweets or mentions, meaning that someone has mentioned the account on Twitter mediation.

Some of these users used photographs of black men taken from news articles or other sources.

Linvill says their research shows that some of the accounts are linked overseas. According to the researcher, some of them used words that could be linked to the Russian alphabet, while another advertised an escort service in Turkey.

For Reuters, the investigator says that the accounts he found have been eliminated, but assures that “they have already had their impact.”

The US presidential elections are in three weeks.
