A participant of “Farmen” recently received a letter in the mail comparing her to the head of state and dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-un. She is not alone in hating onlookers. – Completely unacceptable, says TV 2.
The “farm” has been filming and appearing on the television screen for almost five weeks this fall, and so far there have been several conflicts and a lot of drama on the Hønefoss farm. Inger Cecilie Grønnerød (47) and Daniel Viem Årdal (30) have been particularly vulnerable, they both appear quite directly on television, and they also have a pretty bad relationship with each other.
It has resulted in both of them feeling poorly portrayed on the television screen. That, in turn, has resulted in harsh messages on social media in particular. Recently, Grønnerød also received a letter in the mail, stating the following (VG has edited the typos in the letter, jour. Note):
“You can be compared to a dictator. For example, North Korea. As explosive on the brain as Donald Trump. Your brain barely cuts out mold or a damp sponge on your upper eyelid. You are fake as hell. One thing, one hundred percent, if one of our children had you as a teacher after seeing the Farm, we would demand that you transfer him to a class that you did not teach.
Put this on? Karianne Vilde Wølner, contestant on “Farmen”, has been on TV before:
The participant of the “farm” thinks the letter is scary.
– I have spoken with a police investigator, who says that there is a lot of hate in that letter. If there are more, it is probably a police matter. I laughed a bit at first, but felt more leveraged when the police said they were taking it seriously. The person believes that the wording indicates that it is a matter of hate and that when someone does so diligently with a letter like this, a lot of resources are put into hating you. It’s sad, because this is a competition, and then it’s strange that something could make you hate like that, he tells VG.
She believes that TV 2 and the production company Strix have a responsibility in everything.
– “The farm” should be a family concept, it should be beautiful, and there are a lot of beautiful things that they can show in a week. But then they choose conflicts. What we have not been able to demonstrate is that we normally work side by side for ten minutes after these conflicts. The same applies to the media and the cases he writes to build on everything: It is abuse of people, believes the 47-year-old, who emphasizes that VG is also helping to build on these conflicts.
Daniel Viem Årdal has also lost a lot of weight this fall. VG has seen one of the comments Årdal is referring to, and the one he has posted in particular.
“The Daniel is so damn ugly that fucking, all they can do is pull out his nails and tie him to the hooks that he was going to sabotage. Fy, for a cliche of a man», He says.

– I get messages that nobody in Norway likes me and that it is not possible to be as stupid as me. But those who write like this often hide behind hidden users or fake profiles. It says more about them than about me. They can hold on, I just laugh at it. I’m doing well, but my family is doing worse, he tells VG.
– Here I support Daniel one hundred percent. Neither my children, nor my parents nor my husband think this is cute, nor do my friends. People do not recognize me on the screen, some think I am completely ill. It’s worse for those around us, says Grønnerød, who has also experienced what is reminiscent of inbox threats.
– Yes, and the most serious are those who write things as if they wanted to drown you. That’s what I told the police and if someone talks about “physical” things, then I start to react. People draw conclusions about my personal characteristics from what they see on a screen.
Daniel Viem Årdal believes, like Grønnerød, that TV 2 should take on more responsibilities.

– I get a lot of hate and they probably don’t introduce me that well. I thought they might eventually turn into something more positive, but then it’s time for it to happen soon. I’ve shown a lot of positive sides there, but they’ve cut me off like an idiot. Those who know me know that I am a kind and friendly guy, although I like to argue.
– Did you talk to TV 2 about these things?
– No, I do not have. But I hope they also think a little about me, that they will soon represent me as I really am and that they not only include arguments and all the negative things. Viewers can rarely see the full context. I hope it turns around. I work in a store, and those who come to me are exclusively positive, they are the ones who hide behind a keyboard that throws shit.
Green red agrees.
– TV 2 has done little for us when it comes to this. They really should “clean up” a bit for me and Daniel, they’ve used us a bit cynically.

– Do you think then that TV 2 should “clear” a bit for you on the screen or later?
– Both, really. They should “clean up” a bit in how it’s made, because we haven’t just been cynical and mischievous.
TV2: – Sad and unacceptable
VG has asked TV 2 a series of questions in relation to the statements of the two participants of “Farmen”. The editor of the channel’s program, Kathrine Haldorsen, believes that both have been good participants.
– It is very sad and completely unacceptable that you have received hate messages. “The Farm” is an entertainment program, a social game and with a big prize for the winner. It is within the rules of this game to break certain rules that we would rather keep up in real life. That someone chooses to do it in the “Farmen” -gården game is not a direct reflection of who they are as people in their everyday life, he tells VG.

Haldorsen emphasizes that the channel works hard to make the shows a good mix of farm life, friendship, games, competition, mastery, playfulness, and challenges.
– We also work all the time to show as many sides of the participants as possible and to present what is happening on the farm as accurately as possible.
Some are there to live the experience, others to make friends, while some are also there to win and play, he thinks.
– It is natural that those who have the game in focus receive a lot of attention when it is the game and the competition the subject of the programs. It’s natural for us that there is content on the shows, but we also make sure to show other aspects of them. Daniel, for example, proved to be a good Wiktoria teacher in backward diving.
Mens:
– It goes without saying that there are many things that are never shown on television. We shoot forty minutes for every minute shown on shows, explains the show’s editor.
Årdal, 30, emphasizes that he himself takes hateful statements well, but that perhaps not everyone would take them as well as he.
– I wish someone could sometimes think if it was their children who felt hatred against them. In my case, it bounces easily, because I don’t care what people think of me. But there are probably quite a few participants within “Farmen” who are not like that. Others also in Norway. There are many who can approach such things.

– Did you get help from TV 2 after you returned from the farm?
– No, but I would have gotten it if I asked. I have the number of the psychologist and can call her at any time. But I don’t need that, really. It’s not sure that people think it hurts that bad either, they just have to “get it out.” Then it goes beyond me, something that makes me very happy, that does not go beyond the participants who may not have tolerated it. Nothing hurts, if I had done that I would have already been in the grave, I think, he tells VG.
