The Washington Post has obtained access to a recording of the hour-long telephone conversation between President Trump and the state’s electoral director, Republican Brad Raffensperger. Avisa herself has published snippets of the conversation.

According to the newspaper, Trump tried to flatter Raffensperger, while urging him to take action. In addition, he hinted at threats of consequences if Raffensperger refused to help him “find” more votes for Trump.

– Right here. All I want is this: I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state, Trump told Raffensperger in the phone call.

– Impossible that I lost

Raffensperger, for his part, rejects the president’s claims and notes that Trump relies on conspiracy theories that have already been rejected by the electoral authorities.

– The challenge you have is that the information you are sitting on is incorrect, says Raffensperger in the phone conversation with Trump.

– It is completely impossible that he lost in Georgia. It’s not possible. We won with hundreds of thousands of votes, says Trump.

Georgia's top election official, Republican Brad Raffensperger, has repeatedly defended the vote after the presidential election. President Donald Trump is still trying to get the state to re-examine the votes.

The phone conversation is just the latest step in a long series of attempts by Trump to change the outcome of what has been described as a fair and democratic presidential election, the AP news agency writes.

Trump’s latest attempt to change the outcome of the election comes just over two weeks before he has to leave the White House, and two days before the rematch for the top two Senate seats in Georgia that could tip to the majority in the Senate.

Three counts

Georgia conducted a vote count three times, and Joe Biden emerged victorious each time. This does not fall on good ground with Trump.

Just a few weeks ago, Trump responded to a claim from a lawyer who wrote that, among others, Raffensperger will be jailed after declaring Biden the winner.

Biden won the Georgia election with a majority of 12,779 votes. The state has previously been viewed as a safe Republican state.

Talk about the Senate election

On Tuesday the important reelection of the two Senate seats in Georgia will take place. The result will determine whether Republicans retain their majority in the Senate.

In a phone conversation with Raffensperger, Trump also said that if Raffensperger does nothing by Tuesday, he will put the political futures of the two Republican senators at risk.

Trump claims he is the rightful winner of the November presidential election. In December, the Electoral College Joe Biden formally elected president, and he will take office on January 20.

Trump’s numerous allegations of widespread electoral fraud have been rejected by his own justice minister, the National Electoral Commission, foreign election observers and the state government. Trump has not provided proof of the allegations.
