VG updates the case.

According to the New York Times, Washington Post and Reuters, shortly before midnight local time, Donald Trump signed the pardon of his former chief strategist and adviser Steve Bannon.

Bannon is charged with embezzlement and fraud, and was arrested aboard a Chinese luxury yacht in August. The trial has yet to take place, so Bannon will be pardoned without being convicted.

The president of the United States was expected to grant about 100 pardons or sanctions during his last day in the White House.

According to the New York Times, they were arguing about who the president should pardon until recently, and Bannon’s possible pardon must have been one of the hottest topics. According to the newspaper, the two have spoken by phone during the day, in what has been an attempt by Bannon to persuade the president.

The outgoing president of the United States arrived on Tuesday with his farewell speech. You can see it here:

Accused of embezzlement of millions

Bannon, along with two other people, is accused of defrauding more than $ 1 million from US donors in what they claimed was a fundraising campaign to build the US wall against Mexico.

In total, they are said to have raised more than 25 million US dollars.

Bannon pleaded not guilty and was released on bail. You are not allowed to travel outside of New York or Washington, DC, or use a private plane or boat without a permit.

After Bannon, who helped Trump win the 2016 election, left the White House in August 2017, relations between him and the president cooled. In a book, Bannon took a hard line against a meeting that a Trump ally had with a Russian lawyer in 2016, and Trump responded by saying that “Bannon had lost his mind.”

In recent months, however, Bannon is said to have gotten back on track with the president, writes CNN. This is in part due to the fact that he has helped convey the electoral fraud allegations refuted by Trump.

Top Democrat Responds

Trump has previously been criticized for forgiving his allies and supporters, including Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort and Roger Stone, who worked for him during the election campaign.

Steve Bannon is pardoned by Trump after tricking his own supporters into paying for a wall that Trump promised Mexico would pay for. If this sounds crazy, it’s because it is. Fortunately, we only have 12 hours left of this robbery, writes Democrat Adam Schiff, who heads the Intelligence Committee in the House of Representatives, On twitter.

Researcher Hilmar Mjelde previously told VG that a common feature of Trump’s use of the power of forgiveness is that he has forgiven political allies.

– This is an abuse of the power of forgiveness, believe.

Reuters: not forgiven

There has been much speculation about whether Donald Trump would forgive himself or members of his own family.

CNN reported Tuesday that Trump should have asked about the possibility of this by Tuesday, but that his advisers should have warned him not to.

According to Reuters, neither Trump himself nor members of his family are on the list of names pardoned before he loses power.

Kodak Black was arrested in 2019 for illegal possession of a weapon and was sentenced to four years in prison.
