Trondheim is now hardening itself to overcome the high pressure of infections in the city, in part because various party settings make it difficult to detect infections.

Published:

Trondheim currently has high infection pressure and demanding infection tracking due to various party settings not indicating where they have been.

Therefore, they are now introducing various measures, which were adopted during an extraordinary meeting of the presidency on the second day of Christmas.

Here are the measures (injunctions):

  • Dump stops will be introduced at nightclubs at 10pm from December 26 inclusive
  • Social contacts are limited to ten per week.
  • All restaurants, both restaurants and bars, must register all visitors upon arrival with their name and phone number.
  • All taxis must register all customers on each trip with their name and phone number.
  • All unattended gyms must be closed. Gyms that are open must be staffed during opening hours
  • Group training is not allowed in the gym.

The measures are anchored in regulations and, therefore, are mandatory, not recommendations. They go into effect at 8 pm on Saturday night.

During the time you need to wash your hands to be effective against viruses:

Municipal Director: – Frustrating

On Friday, VG wrote about the situation, where both the city director and the mayor were desperate for quarantine-breaking party settings and don’t remember who they met when the trackers called them.

It involves several dozen people.

This group is a major contributor to the measures now being introduced, City Director Morten Wolden tells VG:

– It’s frustrating. For us and for all those affected: business, sports and cultural life is now affected, he says.

Trondheim has previously introduced a ban on the use of face masks in public places indoors and outdoors in places where it is not possible to maintain the necessary distance.

In addition, they now recommend that stores, shopping malls and other outlets provide accommodation so that distance can be maintained.

He broke the quarantine and continued nach

During Saturday’s meeting, it was also revealed that several people who should have been in quarantine were present in a large nachspiel in Trondheim.

Another person who was present at the party was diagnosed with coronary heart disease on Friday. This is stated by the director of health and welfare of the municipality, Helge Garåsen.

– One had been in an important nachspiel, where several were present in quarantine.

He adds that they are also struggling to find out who was there. This makes tracking infections demanding:

– Some people do not respond when contacted by the infection detection team. They do not contact them and follow up on them. It’s new, he says.

High infection rates

44 people have been infected in the last 24 hours. Due to reduced capacity, there may be a delay on Christmas Eve.

Based on the VG overview, Trondheim has an increasing tendency for infection.

Most of those infected are close contacts of known cases, but infection markers have failed to establish contact with two of those infected. They are both 50 years old.

Five of those infected have an unknown source of infection. Some of these cases may be linked to party settings in Trondheim, where the municipality struggles to obtain sufficient information.

The municipality asks everyone who has participated in the Christmas market from 17.12 inclusive to 21.12 inclusive to be more aware of their own symptoms and to examine themselves for vague symptoms, as they may have been in contact with the infection.

Engaged police

The municipality will have a meeting with the police to hear how they can do it. There are two things they want help with:

  • Investigate the possibilities of reviewing people (in addition to imposing fines)
  • What capacity do the police have in the future to monitor private parties?

– When we have seen individuals break quarantine, we will consult with the police about the margin of maneuver in what I perceive as the border between notification and no notification, said Wolden.

Although covid-19 and influenza have many similar properties, covid-19 can spread much faster. Here we explain why:
