Trond Lykke (74) fell asleep Tuesday morning, writes Adressa (subscription required). He was diagnosed with incurable cancer last year.
– It was he who invented the name and made the Lykke stores a chain, says Christian Lykke (46), son of Trond Lykke, to the newspaper.

Trond Lykke took over the IK Lykke family business in 1978 and started the new Bunnpris chain three years later. It grew to become the fourth largest in Norway, after the big three groups Coop, Rema 1000 and the market leader Norgesgruppen.
Awarded with the King’s Medal of Merit
Since Trond Lykke became a director in 1978, turnover has risen sharply from NOK 145 million to a total turnover of more than NOK 6.4 billion in 2019, according to Kapital.

In 2013, Lykke was made a Knight First Class of the Danish Order of Dannebro. In 2005, he received the King’s Medal of Merit in gold for his involvement in the community. He was also an active politician in his time, serving as a member of the Conservative Party on Trondheim City Council for a total of eight years.
Been in business 190 years
Today, it is the son Christian who runs the family business, writes Nidaros. He took over the management of Bunnpris in 2005 and is the fifth-generation owner of IK Lykke, which has roots dating back to 1830. Today, the company owns more than 240 stores, according to Kapital.
The 46-year-old also served on the Trondheim City Council from 2003-2007, and is the Danish Consul in Trondheim.
