On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that two more people had been infected with Covid-19. Among other things, an employee of the Sør-Tromsøya nursing home has been diagnosed with an infection.

The Municipality of Tromsø will report a new case of coronary disease later in the afternoon. An employee of the Prelaten nightclub has been confirmed to be infected.

Unknown source of infection

This means that a total of four new people have been infected with corona in Tromsø this week. 110 are in quarantine and 31 are in isolation.

Kathrine Kristoffersen, the municipal chief physician, said during a news conference at 6.30 pm that there is still hope the infection can be traced.

On Tuesday it was known that a person was infected after attending an event with 100 participants. On Thursday it was known that another of the confirmed infected may be linked to this fact.

The person who was confirmed infected on Tuesday works at the University Hospital of Northern Norway (UNN), along with one of those who received a positive result Thursday.

Tromsø declared on Tuesday that there is a hidden infection in the municipality. Several cases of infection can be related to a nightclub, «No. 24 ‘in the center of Tromsø.

– It is concerning when we cannot trace the infection, says municipal chief physician Inger Hilde Trandem.

The municipality is now working closely with No. 24 to map close contacts and movements. The place is closed for the day and the premises are washed.

– We have no control over the origin of the infection, the infection is still unknown, the head of the Korona Center Ø vivos Benjaminsen told Nordlys early Thursday.

In addition to the four confirmed cases among Tromsø residents, 25 people from a Russian trawler were transported ashore and isolated at the Korona Center in the Kroken district.

The municipality encourages everyone who has been to the club between October 1 and 3 to be aware of the symptoms and to get tested if they suspect they are infected. Close contacts of those infected have been quarantined.

Tracking infections in nursing homes

All residents of the neighborhood where the nursing home employee works are now being screened. One of them was confirmed infected on Thursday afternoon, the municipal chief informs NRK.

– We have control over those who have been in the nursing home, by visitors and employees, says the head of the crown center Øyvind Benjaminsen during the press conference.

A visitation stoppage has been introduced in the nursing home.

The results of the tests will be ready during the afternoon, Thursday or Friday.

– We work too hard with infection tracking. The way forward will be decided when the test results are ready, says subject leader at the Korona Center, Ø claim Benjaminsen.
