Traffic Light Discussion – Cancel the Orange Level:

[ad_1]

In early March, Oslo school counselor Inga Marte Thorkildsen (SV) launched a new level of infection control in schools.

The color code for this new level of emergency preparedness turned orange, and among those that were negative at the new level between yellow and red in severity were the NIPH and the government.

– I’m skeptical about it. I’m not sure who will trade the yellow level, if we create a new orange level. I think we should change the system that we have had for three-quarters of a year, said Education Minister Guri Melby.

Now Thorkildsen tells Dagbladet that the orange level will be nothing after all.

– No, it will not be, because no one has wanted or defended it, he says.

The school board says it was a bad idea to suggest that there should be a new color code on the field.

– I wanted to reinforce the yellow level at the beginning of March, because the infection control guide was not adapted to the situation with mutated viruses. But it was a bad idea to call this a new level with a new color code. Therefore, I said from the beginning that that was not the intention, and I have also informed the city council about this.

– Increased confusion

While Utdanningsforbundet recently demanded that the current traffic light model be changed, FHI was against the idea.

– We do not want to introduce new levels, but we must improve the communication of possibilities and intention with the traffic light model, says Margrethe Greve-Isdahl, FHI chief physician.

Thorkildsen agrees that an orange level would be confusing for many.

– Several levels can contribute to increase the confusion of the population of Oslo. There are many sufficient levels of measures and recommendations from before, which sometimes create confusion for people in a demanding time, says Thorkildsen, adding:

– Now I hope that the new version of the infection guides, announced a long time ago by the authorities, will be available soon.
