ULLEVÅL (VG) The coach of the Norway team believes that the players received a mental blow against Austria and blames him for not working more with the subconscious of the players.
– Mental is interesting. When it has been so positive, there are higher expectations from outside and very positive in the group, and then I think that unconsciously it can make us overestimate ourselves, says Lars Lagerbäck (72) at the press conference on Saturday after the loss by 1-2. The coach of the Swedish Norway team says he doesn’t think players will notice, but says he has experienced the same with various teams before.
– It’s completely my fault. It is my responsibility to make the players understand, when it is so positive then I should think more about clearer habits than just constructively analyzing what we are going to do. I should have done that. It was a mistake on my part, says the coach of the national team.

While Omar Elabdellaoui says the players did not underestimate Austria, Sander Berge says they felt far inferior to Friday’s opponent.

Lagerbäck believes that the mental blow from the players had a negative effect on the Norwegian game.

Alexander Sørloth also became a topic at Saturday’s press conference after making a good foray against Austria.
– We had a chat with the three beforehand since it is so close between them, that they are clear about how we think. Then I said that it is very possible that we will start with all three, either early on or during matches, says the 72-year-old.
