Total Confusion After Trump Doctor Press Conference – VG

Was Donald Trump confirmed to be infected on Wednesday? That was one of several questions left with journalists after the president’s doctor met with the press on Saturday.

On Friday at 00.44 US time, Donald Trump announced that both he and Melania had tested positive for COVID-19 and would be immediately quarantined.

But during a press conference in front of Walter Reed Military Hospital on Saturday, the president’s doctor arrived with new information.

“It’s only been 72 hours after diagnosis,” said Sean P. Conley, as the rest of the president’s medical team stood behind him in a semicircle, wearing white coats and masks.

It had only been 36 hours since Trump declared he tested positive. 72 hours would mean that the president tested positive as early as Wednesday morning.

When asked if he could figure it out, Conley replied that several tests were done Thursday afternoon when Trump developed symptoms that gave them cause for concern.

Shortly after the press conference, several journalists wrote that anonymous White House employees emphasized that Conley had meant that it was the third day after the president’s diagnosis, not that 72 hours had passed since he tested positive.

Conley also posted a clarification later in the evening in which he wrote that he had incorrectly said 72 hours instead of “day three” and “48 hours” instead of “day two.”

It also claims that the president was first diagnosed with covid-19 on Thursday night local time, and received Regeneron’s antibody cocktail on Friday.

The doctor’s descriptions of the president’s health also created confusion.

He opened the press conference saying that things were going “very well” with the president, but avoided questions about whether Trump had received oxygen treatment. He also responded vaguely when Trump started developing symptoms.

Shortly after the press conference, several outlets reported on an unidentified source with knowledge of the president’s health situation. He described Trump’s situation on Friday as “very disturbing” and said the next 48 hours were “critical.”

The AP news agency writes Saturday night that it was Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, who gave the appointments.

After Saturday’s press conference, Trump tweeted from his hospital bed.

– The doctors, nurses and everyone at the great Walter Reed Medical Center, and others from equally amazing institutions that have joined them, are wonderful.
