On Monday, emergency services responded to a minor traffic accident on E6 near Jessheim. When they arrived at the scene, the situation worsened.

In connection with the traffic accident, a firefighter and a lifeguard were injured.

Both the car rescuer and the car driver were taken to hospital after the incident. The firefighter was taken to Ullevål hospital by air ambulance.

Bilberger Tommy Byman (24) was released from the hospital on Tuesday. It was Romerikes Blad who spoke to him first.

He tells Dagbladet that he still has great pain in his legs. He was beaten after the incident and suffered internal bleeding in his right leg.

– I got a real slap in the 110 zone. That it went well is absolutely incredible. I was very lucky, so to speak. I am glad to be alive and have no more injuries.

“This is getting ugly”

Due to the swelling in the leg, the doctors thought that surgery might be necessary. He released him and was released on Tuesday. He is now on sick leave for 14 days and must lie down with his leg raised.

– I heard the sound of screeching tires coming towards us. So I didn’t have time to think so much more than “now they’ll hit me” and “this is going to be ugly.” I didn’t run away and I felt very locked up.

Only a year ago you had another accident in a work context at E6. Then there was a bus that hit the middle car from behind, he says. It resulted in a whiplash, and now he’s fine.

It is not yet clear what caused Monday’s crash.

With prayer

Byman still arrives with a prayer to motorists.

– I have worked with this for two years and received two slaps. We are exposed in the district here due to the highway and heavy traffic to and from Gardermoen. I go with a thought of “what if they don’t see me.” We close a lane, but still motorists turn right in front of us and almost turn to pass. Respect for life on the road is not present.

– A drastic change in attitude is needed. It doesn’t take long to slow down. Now no one died, but must anyone die before he focuses on this? If someone dies, they can’t hit the undo button. So you’re standing there with a murder sentence.

Byman is grateful that the injuries he sustained were not worse and that no one was killed in the accident.

– At the same time, Christmas is also ruined this year. It is annoying.

– Embossed

Fire and Rescue Chief Anders Løberg at the Upper Romerike Fire Service (ØRB) says the firefighter was released from the hospital on Tuesday. The person in question is currently on sick leave.

– We are very happy that it went so well, both with our own employee and the heavy truck rescuer, who was also injured. The incident, of course, has affected the entire ØRB, especially the other employees who were involved in the incident, he says.

The fire service is now following the employees.

Moving forward, the focus is on following up with both the employee who was injured and other employees in need. Post-incident assessment work is routinely implemented.
