– It has been two difficult years. Empty is a bad word that you don’t understand until you’re there. It contains almost everything when that happens, says Tom Hagen in the interview with NRK at his home in Sloraveien.

Hagen is charged with murder or complicity in the murder of his wife Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, who has been missing for two years on Saturday. The 70-year-old man denies his criminal guilt.

Hagen answers the NRK journalist’s questions about, among other things, the question of guilt, the surprise when the accusation came and about the motive for the murder of his wife, whom he calls Lisbeth.

Police believe the motive for the murder must have been marital problems. Hagen rejects this.

– Lisbeth and I have experienced that we have had a good marriage. But we’ve had bumps along the way, like everyone else. There’s nothing to hide, says Hagen.

He also explains that on the day of the disappearance he tried to call his wife several times and was worried. He had promised to call her because they had talked about going to Kvitfjell.

When he got home, he feared she might have had a heart attack, he explains. After a while, he found the letter threatening so much discussed. Hagen had to temporarily interrupt the interview with NRK when he went to read the letter.
