In the course of a week, there have been three overdose deaths in Tromsø. All the dead are men in their twenties. Now the police warn against very powerful drugs in circulation.
– We are concerned that pills that can be fatal have circulated in some environments. These circulate among young people in Troms, says Yngve Myrvoll, head of the Joint Intelligence, Prevention and Investigation Unit in the Troms police district.
All three have been found dead at private addresses. There have also been seizures that give police reasons to view overdose deaths in context. The police have not received a final toxicology report from the autopsies and therefore cannot conclude that the cause of death is the same.
– The common denominator in all deaths is that there has been combined use, where there have been mixed pills and alcohol. We are now working to trace the source of this substance, Myrvoll says.
He says that the police know that tablets are sold on social media.
– Of course we are concerned about the current situation. We strongly advise against taking tablets whose content is unknown.
