– We left because we lost everything in the November hurricane, we regret what happened and now we are asking for help. We hope someone welcomes us, he says.

He and the other migrants hope it will be easier to get help for a better life when Joe Biden begins his job as President of the United States on January 20.

Biden has previously said that he will review outgoing President Donald Trump’s immigration policy.

Thousands gather in Honduras

By Thursday, several thousand people had turned up in Honduras, according to social media and local media. On the same day, Biden began talks with the Mexican government to discuss the challenges associated with migration.

The plan is to keep going on Friday.

Many of the other migrants are also here as a result of the devastating hurricane. Others say they are fleeing poverty, unemployment and gang crime in their home country.

– There is no job to get, not even for a bricklayer. I hope I can have my own home, he says.

In December, Biden had a telephone conversation with the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

He then said that he was determined to address the root causes of emigration from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and southern Mexico to ensure orderly and safe migration.

Should show negative corona test

Most of the migrants wear masks, according to local media. But this time they are required to present a negative coronal edge test, a requirement that many fail to meet.

Towards the end of 2018, several caravans traveled to the southern borders of the United States. Subsequently, the Trump administration reached an agreement with Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador in which the countries were declared safe.

Under the agreement, migrants heading to the United States had to seek asylum in one of the three countries when they arrived. They certainly couldn’t be sent back when they arrived in the United States.

In 2019, Mexico agreed to place troops at the borders of the United States to prevent migrants from crossing the borders.

So now several thousand are on their way to America.
