According to TV 2, former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland (Labor Party) uses a lot of space to skin Jens Stoltenberg in his new book “You should have it yourself”.
In the book, Jagland openly recounts how her relationship with Jens Stoltenberg has been strained and full of suspicion and mistrust, the channel writes.
The former Labor leader, who resigned in 2002, mentions, among other things, Stoltenberg’s 2016 admission that the current NATO leader had worked with his Labor allies to weaken Jagland as the party’s leader.
– I had been reluctant to believe what was alleged, that people in intimate circles tried almost daily to get the press to convey negative messages about me. Now I saw that it was true. The people were mentioned by Jens himself. The phrases “I knew they were working for my candidacy and that they were among the anonymous media sources who advocated for a change of leadership … I didn’t stop them” hit my head like a bomb, Jagland writes in the book, according to TV two.
Stoltenberg does not want to comment on Jagland’s new autobiography. The first volume will be published on Wednesday.
– Jens Stoltenberg recounted his version of his time as a Norwegian politician and prime minister in his autobiography. You have nothing to add beyond this, writes Stoltenberg communications consultant Sissel Kruse Larsen in a text message to TV 2 and NRK.
Jagland was the leader of the Labor Party for ten years. He became prime minister in 1996 but resigned only a year later because the election result did not live up to his fateful ultimatum that support must be at least as good as in previous elections (36.9 percent ) for him to continue. The following years were marked by a bitter power struggle with Stoltenberg, who finally took over as party leader in 2002.
