Liverpool 0-2 Everton (0-1)

The last time Everton won at Anfield was in 1999, but after three minutes the team from the blue part of the city showed that they had plans to destroy this dismal statistic.

An early goal against and a plug substitute injury should ensure Liverpool have a tough game against city rivals.

After 68 straight home games without losing, Liverpool have lost their last four Premier League games at Anfield. They haven’t lost that many games in a row at home since 1923.

– We dominate the game, but we cannot decide it. We make a mistake and they score. Everton make ten mistakes but we didn’t score in any of them, says Jürgen Klopp after the game.

– Liverpool have big problems to stop. It will be a big task to put together a winning streak at the end of the season, said TV 2 commentator Øyvind Alsaker.

Liverpool midfielder Thiago was obviously a disappointed man after the match.

– We’re not good enough today. We have a team that is good enough to win every game, so we just have to keep working, says the Spaniard.

“Persona non grata”

The first meeting between the two teams this season was very dramatic.

Everton’s last defender, Jordan Pickford, became a “persona non grata” in the city’s red light district after tackling Virgil van Dijk badly.

The tackle sent the Dutchman to the operating table. Following the Oct. 17 tackle, the blocking giant has not been on the field, something he probably won’t be for the rest of this season either.

The first game of the season between the city rivals ended 2-2. So it was an expensive point for Liverpool, which has affected them for the rest of the season.

Nightmare start for Liverpool

Joshua King again had to start on the bench for Everton. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was back on the bench, but it was Richarlison who had a chance to be on top from the start. It should quickly become a good choice for Ancelotti.

Even before the game clock passed three minutes, the Brazilian had a run at the net. James Rodríguez assumed the role of waiter, and with a beautiful preparation he found Richarlison. Alone with his compatriot Alisson, the Everton forward was not wrong.

After 25 minutes, Liverpool had another explosion. Captain Jordan Henderson went to the ground and grabbed the back of his thigh. After trying to continue playing, the captain had to throw in the towel.

– Henderson’s injury is difficult to deal with. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like a minor injury either, says Jürgen Klopp after the match.

Therefore, Klopp had to face Nathaniel Phillips.

– It’s a total disaster that this happens to Henderson. They have emptied the squad for midfielders, now they are in the process of emptying it for midfielders as well, TV 2 soccer expert Erik Thorstvedt said during the break.

Jordan Pickford, what do you know about yourself and your club?

He was countered by sinking while chasing the goal

Liverpool fully controlled the game in the second half. The guests were clearly satisfied with the result obtained in the first round.

Mohamed Salah had the opportunity to change things. The Egyptian arrived alone with Jordan Pickford, but the last chance was quickly gone and he was saved.

– It’s a match-winning rescue of England’s goalkeepers, said TV 2 expert commentator Nils Johan Semb.

Ten minutes before the end, Everton punctured the game. Liverpool chased goals and was severely punished when Everton responded.

Richarlison rejected Nathaniel Phillips and sent Calvert-Lewin alone with Alisson. The last time he saved the shot, but the Everton striker fell to the ground when he had to put it on goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold unleashed a deflected effort from the right that the visiting goalkeeper did well to deflect. The penalty kick put Gylfi Sigurdsson in the corner. Thus, the score was 2-0 for the guests.

The loss was Liverpool’s fourth in a row at Anfield. For Everton, it was their first victory at Anfield since 1999. Merseyside teams have 44 points, but the blue jerseys have played one game less.
