AL-HOL IN SYRIA / OSLO (Aftenposten): 40,000 children grow up in the Al-Hol refugee camp. Many mothers are raising their children to be like their fathers – a new generation of IS fighters.

They remember most children. But not quite. Many children between the ages of seven and ten gather around us. One of them shouts a few words and the gang responds rhythmically.

– “God is the greatest”, they shout pointing to the sky, as we have seen the jihadists do. And: “The Islamic State must remain.”

Aftenposten has been to Al-Hol many times in recent years. This time we notice a clear change. In the past, several women would settle in and ask us for tea or juice. Now they show us the finger, they are aggressive and hostile.
