Uruguayan star forward Cavani is very close to becoming Manchester United’s new striker, several outlets reported. The transition can go smoothly on Sunday.
ESPN and the BBC are among the media who say on Saturday that Cavani is almost ready for Manchester United.
The usually credible RMC journalist Mohamed bouhafsi and transition guru Fabrizio Romano in Sky Italia also reported early on the transition that appears to be underway.
On Sunday, the forward reportedly will arrive in Manchester to hold the crucial talks and undergo the mandatory health check. The contract that United will offer to Cavani will run through the summer of 2022.

No club
The 33-year-old has not had a club since leaving Paris Saint-Germain after last season. There he has scored 138 league goals for PSG in 200 games since joining the club in 2013.
This makes the Uruguayan the highest-scoring player of all time for the French club.
Cavani has no contract and can in principle sign for a new club even after the transfer window is closed. However, reports indicate that the transition will take place well before midnight on Monday.
If he becomes a United player, Cavani can make his debut against former club PSG. United take on the greats of French football in the first game of the Champions League group stage. The date is October 20.
