Thiago Alcantara is in isolation after passing a positive corona test.
Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is isolated at home after testing positive for the crown, the club reports on its own website.
The 29-year-old recently joined the Merseyside club from Bayern Munich and made his debut in the away game against Chelsea last weekend when he was substituted at half-time.
The midfielder should have only experienced mild symptoms of the disease and should be on the road to recovery.
Liverpool doctor Jim Moxon is optimistic that Thiago will return to training camp soon.
– It is up to each individual if they want to publish the result of a COVID-19 test. We have followed the protocols to the letter and Thiago is fine. Hopefully he’ll be back with us soon, says Moxon.
The player from the Spanish national team was not in the squad for Liverpool who faced Arsenal on Monday. At the pre-deal press conference, manager Jürgen Kopp stated that Thiago had doubts about the deal.
Liverpool will face Arsenal in the League Cup on Thursday, before Aston Villa take on Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
