– They are playing with fire

Sasse writes on his own Facebook page on Thursday Norwegian time that he has urged his fellow Republicans to abandon all plans to oust Joe Biden’s election winner, writes CNN.

Having had private conversations with two dozen colleagues over the last few weeks, I find it useful to explain publicly why I do not want to participate in a project to annul the elections and why I have also urged my colleagues to stop this. dangerous game, writes Sasse.

The Nebraska senator was not one of Trump’s favorites before. Earlier this year, Sasse accused Trump of “flirting with supporters of white supremacy” and of “kissing dictators from behind.”

Trump responded in a series of messages on Twitter, calling Sasse “a person who doesn’t have what it takes to be cool.”

“Little Ben is a burden to the Republican Party and a disgrace to the magnificent state of Nebraska,” Trump wrote in October.

Refuses to admit defeat

Despite the fact that Joe Biden received more than 7 million more votes than Donald Trump in the November 3 presidential election and secured 306 electoral delegates to Trump’s 232, Trump himself and many Republicans have refused to acknowledge defeat.

Through hundreds of state-by-state trials, Trump supporters have tried to persuade the courts that there were widespread irregularities during the election, but without winning.

On Monday, December 14, Joe Biden was formally elected as the new President of the United States after 306 delegates voted for him and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Sasse writes that Trump and his supporters are trying to invalidate millions of votes.

The president and his allies play with fire. If you make strong claims, you should be sure you have proof. But neither the president nor the institutional arsonists in Congress want to protest the electoral college vote.

The senator will oppose the election

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley recently announced that he will oppose Biden’s election when Congress meets next week to confirm Biden’s election victory. He is the first senator to announce that he is taking this step.

Mo Brooks, a member of the Alabama House of Representatives, has previously announced that he will file a formal protest against the Electoral College census. No wonder he is very supportive of Hawley.

Shortly after Hawley’s announcement, news came that Trump was returning to Washington from his Florida resort a day earlier than planned, to be at the White House on New Year’s Eve.

From Florida, the outgoing president has launched a series of attacks on the election result. It is not known if there is any connection between Hawley’s statement and Trump’s decision to return home the day before.

Several prominent Republicans eventually accepted Biden’s victory, even though Trump did not want to concede defeat. They include Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, former Attorney General William Barr, and Senators John Cornyn of Texas, Roy Blunt of Missouri, and John Thune of South Dakota.
