On Wednesday, the politicians in the presidency will decide whether to introduce a bandage in the municipality of Trondheim.
If the court order and the proposed regulations pass, it will apply to a number of places, including indoors in public spaces like stores, common areas in shopping malls and hair salons, but also outdoors in densely populated areas.

The exceptions
Even if the court order was approved, some groups would be exempt. Municipal Director Wolden informs Adresseavisen on Tuesday that the exceptions apply to these:
- People born after 2008. The requirement to wear a mask applies to people born before 2008.
- People who for medical reasons cannot wear bandages.

The order does not apply to students and staff at schools, extracurricular clubs and kindergartens, it says in the recommendation for Wednesday’s presidency meeting. However, the municipality recommends a handkerchief for delivery and collection in the kindergarten, or alternatively that the collection and delivery take place outdoors, says the municipal director.
– We do not intend to require a medical certificate from those who for medical reasons cannot use masks. We trust people and are confident that those who can wear masks do, says Wolden.
The municipal director points out that it is important to obtain good information that there are exceptions for the use of masks.
– It’s a bit like the Crown police. It is very important that we are clear about the exceptions. Some people cannot wear masks, says Wolden.
Lung disease
The National Institute of Public Health writes on its website that, among other things, these groups may be exempt from an order on the use of face masks:
- Children under the age of 12 are not recommended to wear a mask.
- Children under 2 years of age are not recommended to wear a mask, as it may impede free breathing or free airways.
- People who are unconscious or have a reduced state of consciousness, or for other reasons, cannot remove the mouthpiece by themselves.
- People with chronic heart or lung disease.
- People who have a disease or condition that causes impaired cognitive function, or where the use of a bandage becomes a major mental strain
- People who interact with people with hearing disabilities.
– So ugly for me
Adresseavisen has been in contact with a woman who says she cannot wear a mask even though this should be mandatory in some places in Trondheim.
– I have post-traumatic stress disorder, and putting something in my mouth and nose makes me very sick, he explains.
The woman claims that she, among other things, has flashbacks and dissociates, and that she completely disappears in abuse since childhood.
She chooses to speak to Adresseavisen because she wants to better understand that some people cannot wear face masks. In recent days, the municipality of Trondheim has recommended the use of face masks. The woman says that she has experienced negative reactions from people because she has not used a mask.
– They looked at me ugly and talked among themselves about all those who do not follow the recommendations, he says.
Trondhjemmeren says she will now try to fix a doctor’s statement that she cannot wear a mask.
Since she doesn’t wear a mask, the woman says she keeps a good distance from people and doesn’t seek out crowds.
