The chief infection control physician, Runar Johannessen, told VG on Thursday that the municipality is in contact with taxi companies and working on infection detection.

Several of the little ones infected on Christmas Eve are close contacts of taxi drivers.

On Saturday, the municipality announced in a press release that five drivers distributed in Bryne Taxi, Vibå Jærtaxi and Stavanger Taxi tested positive for covid-19. The municipality asked people who have traveled with taxi companies in the period from December 10 to 17 to be especially attentive to symptoms.

Stavanger Mayor Kari Nessa Nordtun said Thursday that the municipality is monitoring the taxi industry and working to get infection control councils out again.

– In emergency management, we closely monitor the development of the infection and continually assess whether new measures need to be implemented, whether it is in the taxi industry or other areas where we see the infection increasing, says the mayor of Stavanger Kari Nessa Nordtun.
