President Donald Trump’s chief of staff reportedly asked FDA Director Stephen Hahn to approve a corona vaccine at the end of the day if he wants to keep his job.
The Washington Post, The New York Times and the Associated Press do not cite named sources at the White House on Friday.
Pfizer-Biontech’s coronary vaccine received urgent approval from an FDA panel of experts Thursday, with official approval expected over the weekend.
According to sources, Chief of Staff Mark Meadows called Hahn and threatened him with dismissal if the vaccine is not approved for use by Saturday. Hahn is said to have ordered approval on Friday, according to the New York Times.

Trump has also attacked Hahn on Twitter for not getting the vaccine approved faster.
Americans can start getting vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine on Monday, according to Health Minister Alex Azar. Azar informs ABC News that only the formalities remain.
The FDA has balanced itself on the razor’s edge, where both have tried to get quick approval of the vaccine while wanting to maintain public confidence in the process, according to the newspaper. The Pfizer-Biontech vaccine has been previously approved in Canada and the UK, where it was introduced this week.
Vaccination is also urgent for the United States. The health system in some parts of the country is very busy. More than 107,000 people are hospitalized, a record number.
On Thursday 2,900 new deaths by corona were registered, which is the second highest number in a day during the epidemic in the country. In all, the country is approaching 300,000 crown-related deaths.
