The town hall leader for anyone considering doing this:

After Oslo introduced stricter infection control rules for Christmas than the rest of the country, more Oslo citizens are considering moving the Christmas holidays outside of municipal boundaries.

Now Raymond Johansen asks everyone to consider why Oslo has such strict measures.

– Use your head!

On Thursday this week, the Oslo City Council has been able to reveal what contagion measures will be for the capital at Christmas. While the government gave national advice on a maximum of ten guests, twice at Christmas, the Oslo City Council chose to continue with the stricter rule of a maximum of ten people in total. Now more people are considering moving the Christmas holidays out of Oslo to have more guests according to national councils.

– The infection remains high and we know that Christmas means greater mobility for many people who are coming, and there is a danger that the number of infections will increase. Now it’s a matter of using your head, says Oslo city councilor Raymond Johansen (Labor Party).

– Remember why the rules exist

Although the infection in Oslo has decreased somewhat, there is still a lot of infection in the capital. Johansen asks those who plan to gather more than ten people to consider why Oslo has introduced strict rules.

He fears that people will bring the infection back to the city after participating in larger companies.

– Yes, that worries me. I hope people think so. These rules have been implemented to limit social mobility as much as possible, continues the city council leader.

– This will be an important test

Raymond Johansen says the next few weeks will be a test of the population of Oslo.

– Do you expect a contagion jump in the new year?

– Based on the experiences we’ve had, it won’t surprise me if we get a raise over Christmas. This will be a very important test. Now it is important to wear the hat and follow the rule as much as possible.

Have understanding

Raymond Johansen says he has a great understanding that people are tired of the rules and at the same time have a desire to be able to spend the holidays with friends and family.

– There is no lack of understanding. I understand that people think that this has been around for a long time, that the restrictions are strict at Christmas. But if we want to overcome this, we must limit social mobility, also at Christmas, continues Johansen.
