– We quickly discovered irregularities and immediately contacted the security authorities, says Andreassen.

Andreassen says they don’t know the possible extent of the attack’s damage. She says they are now in an analysis phase and do not want to comment on the cause or motive of the attack.

– We know that data has been recovered, but we do not know what kind of data, says Andreassen.

NRK tech journalist Martin Gundersen says leaked emails, among other things, have been used before in the US election campaign.

Measures implemented

Several immediate risk reduction measures were implemented to stop the attack.

– These measures had an immediate effect. Event management has the highest priority, says Andreassen.

– We must constantly work with IT security against a demanding threat image. New measures are continually being considered to strengthen security in the Storting, she says.

He further claims that the Storting administration is in close contact with the relevant security authorities and decided on Tuesday to report the matter to the police.

Labor confirms they are affected – Sp not affected

Labor Party Communications Manager Jarle Roheim Håkonsen confirms to NRK that both Labor Party employees and politicians are affected.

– We don’t know exactly how many it is, because people have probably been told for investigative reasons not to present it, he tells NRK.

When asked if representatives of the Conservatives have been affected by the cyber attack, the party replies that the matter is being handled by the Storting. KrF and the Progress Party also refer to the Storting administration.

Communications manager Lars Vangen of the downtown party tells NRK that they received the information from the Storting administration.

– But we are not aware that we are affected, he says.

Liberal Party press adviser Thomas Lien tells NRK that he is not aware so far that any of its employees or representatives are affected, but that the party is in dialogue with the Storting on the matter.

The Green Party and Red Party inform NRK that they do not appear to have been affected so far, but that they are conducting further investigations.

The National Security Authority (NSM) assisted the Storting after the attack.

– Our contribution is analysis, damage limitation and measures to prevent it from happening again, says communications director Mona Strøm Arnøy at NSM to NRK.

She says that particularly good password routines are an issue when working to prevent further attacks.

The police security service (PST) writes on Twitter that they are aware of the computer attack on the Storting.

– When the PST has received the report, we will consider whether there is a basis to initiate an investigation, they write.
