The police’s own fences were used against them during a demonstration in Oslo

It was the organization Sian – Stop the Islamization of Norway – that demonstrated at Furuset in Oslo on August 15.

When the counter-protesters broke down the fences that the police had installed to keep the Sian activists and the counter-protesters apart, several different objects were thrown at the Sian activists, the police and the police cars.

A police officer was also hit in the face with a stick.

Now it turns out that the iron bars that were thrown at the police were pillars ripped from the security fences of the police themselves. The fences, which the Joint Police Services (PFT) are responsible for hiring, were of such poor quality that it was just a matter of removing the stakes, writes Politiforum.

– The fences are safety equipment for the public, those who will speak and the crew. The crew is surprised that the fences can be used as weapons and they react to how these fences could be used at all.says Kristin Aga, leader of the Oslo Police Association.

During the weekend Sian rally at Eidsvolds plass, fences were also put up, but then the police went back to the old fences, not the new ones that were used in Furuset.

Erik Trehjørningen, department manager at PFT, regrets that the new fences were of poor quality and says that the supplier of the fences had confirmed that they were CE marked and approved for use.
