The Police: End Good Advice on Infection Control Breaches

In line with the increased risk of infection and stricter infection control in many places, several police districts said on Friday they are sharpening their reactions to violations of crown rules. In a press release on Friday afternoon, Police Chief Heidi Kløkstad says that the increased infection situation in Nordland also causes changes in police reactions.

Until now, it was common for the police to provide advice and guidance in the event of non-compliance with infection control regulations, but non-compliance is now prosecuted.

Violations of the infection control provisions will be reported and those concerned will be fined up to SEK 20,000 per case. In case of repeated infractions or other aggravating circumstances, the fines will increase, says Kløkstad.

Quarantine Parties and Violations

– Punishment is not an objective in itself, the most important thing is that people comply with the rules and recommendations given by the authorities. All can help reduce infection. This is best done by complying with the recommendations of health authorities, the Southeastern police district writes in its report on the stricter practice on Friday.

The same rules are also introduced in the Troms police district with reference to increasing infection rates.

– This applies, inter alia, to quarantine violations and private parties without infection control control, the police said on friday late.

In the municipality of Tromsø, a ban on organizing or attending private meetings in one’s home, garden or cottage with more than ten people was introduced on Tuesday.

Bergen has seen a sharp increase in the number of new infections in recent days. In the last 24 hours alone, there have been 103 new infections in the city. The rules will also be stricter there, and the police will actively follow them.

– It is quite obvious that this is not the time to break the orders and guidelines that have been given, says prosecutor Gunnar Fløystad in the West a BA police district on Friday afternoon.

Active spread of infection

Oslo already announced on Thursday that from the weekend there will be a change in the attitude of the police regarding violations of infection control rules.

– Where we have previously provided advice and guidance, we will now report violations of infection control regulations regarding the active spread of infections, quarantine violations, repeat violations, and unfollowed orders. An example of this is police assignments associated with private parties and events, said press manager Unni T. Grøndal.

As of Monday, 199 cases of covid-19 had been registered in the Oslo police district. 99 of the cases concern breaches of quarantine provisions.
