Police have received multiple leads after calling a boy on Monday who is described as a possible important witness in the investigation of a reported abuse of a girl in Lye. She was on her way home from elementary school when the incident occurred.
The young man police are interested in contacting sat on a rock by the trail right next to the forest area where the assault occurred on Tuesday of last week. The response to the search has led police to be optimistic about the search for the boy.
– I think we can find the boy in the stone. You can be an important witness for us, says the head of the section of people in the south-west police district, Bjørn Kåre Dahl to Aftenbladet.
The police have invested great resources to find out what happened when the girl was driving home from Lye’s school in Time. At 13:39 a message came that a girl of primary school age had been abused when she was returning home from school.
Around 40 witness interviews have been conducted, several of whom are children. Therefore, facilitated interrogations have been necessary at the Stavanger Children’s Home.
– The reported abuse took place exactly when both high school and elementary school finished that day. Therefore, we tried to map everyone who was in the relevant area between Lyevegen, Kvartsvegen and the upper side of Lye ungdomsskule once between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. last Tuesday, says Dahl.
Dahl says they have also obtained information from surveillance cameras in the area.
_ The case has a high priority for us, and we are still interested in having everyone who may have information contact us, says Dahl.
