On Sunday the deadline to apply for the position of director of the Tax Administration expired. The position was announced when former boss Hans Christian Holte resigned to become director of Nav.

The list of applicants includes Nina Schanke Funnemark, CEO of Lånekassen.

Funnemark was Deputy Chief Tax Officer from August 2015 until she became Lånekassen’s Senior Director in September 2018.

Prior to that, she had a total of 22 years of experience in Tax Administration as a department head, section manager, department director, and regional director. The 49-year-old has a law degree from the University of Oslo.

Funnemark was hired by Lånekassen for a six-year term in 2018, and was scheduled to work until 2024.

Aftenposten / E24 was unable to get a comment from Schanke Funnemark.

In all, there were four applicants for the position, including Thorbjørn Gaarder, who appeared on Dagbladet as one of the most eager job applicants in the country.

The Tax Director has the professional and administrative responsibility of the Tax Administration. The agency is subordinate to the Ministry of Finance and has around 6,500 employees. The tax administration consists of a directorate and six divisions with responsibility at the national level.

The position is for a period of six years with the possibility of renewal once.

The ad text states that the Finance Ministry has hired the scouting firm BackerSkeie in search of the new fiscal director.
