At midnight, the strike on the Norwegian platform worsened when the Leaders intensified the strike that had been going on since Wednesday. On Monday, 126 other members of the workers’ organization went on strike.

Previously, 43 of the members of the Leaders on the Johan Sverdrup platform went on strike following the interruption of mediation.

Union leader Audun Ingvartsen in Lederne wrote in an SMS to E24 on Sunday evening that there had been a situation which earlier Sunday he referred to the situation with “there is little and no dialogue”.

– After a long time, we received a draft protocol from NOG. Sadly, he was so vague and under no obligation to resolve our main claim that we rejected him, union leader Audun Ingvartsen in Lederne wrote to E24 in an SMS on Sunday evening.

– We answered that we need more obligations in a protocol if the strike is to be suspended, he adds.

The strike will hit oil production hard

Starting at midnight, the members were taken off the Gudrun, Gina Krog, Kvitebjørn and Gjøa platforms. All platforms are owned by Equinor except Gjøa, where Neptune Energy is the operator.

A total of 126 members will go on strike starting at midnight, in addition to the 43 who quit their jobs on Wednesday.

In total, these six fields produce 330,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, according to Norwegian Oil and Gas. This corresponds to approximately eight percent of the production on the shelf.

The employers’ organization has previously stated that it appears that Kvitebjørn and associated camp Valemon, as well as Gudrun and Gina Krog, must close. Gjøa, operated by Neptune, will also have to close, along with the Vega field that is operated by Wintershall Dea. This field is connected to Gjøa.

In the early hours of Monday, none of the affected companies has confirmed that any of the fields will be closed.
