The Norwegian Ski Association continues its collaboration with Petter Northug’s company

The Norwegian Ski Association states that the existing agreement with Northug AS will continue after an agreement that similar behavior will not occur again. The contract lasts until April 2022.

Cross country coach Espen Bjervig tells NRK that the decision was made after a thorough evaluation. The association weighed both for and against.

– But it is the case that a person like Petter Northug has meant a lot to both Norwegian and international cross-country skiing. And we want you to do well. In the end, we felt we owed Petter helpre, says Bjervig.

Northug speaks

He adds that it has been important for the association to have a direct dialogue with Northug.

– Yes, I had a meeting with Petter. There we have talked about what has weighed in favor and against so that we continue. He appreciated, as I understood it, that we decided to continue working with him.says Bjervig.

The sponsorship collaboration between the ski association and Northug AS took place in August 2019. The Trønderens company supplies clothing and various equipment, including sunglasses worn by the Norwegian national cross-country team.

The Uno-X cycling team terminated its equipment deal with Northug the day after the 34-year-old’s tough riding was revealed.
