The new variant of the coronavirus, which has spread rapidly in the UK, is cause for concern. It may contain a mutation that makes children as susceptible to the virus as adults. In that case, this variant of the virus differs from what has been seen before, say British researchers.

– We are convinced that this variant is more easily transmitted than other types of virus in the UK, says Peter Horby according to Reuters. He is a professor at the University of Oxford specializing in new infectious diseases. He also runs Nervtag, a research group that advises British authorities on the pandemic.
