The man was found at sea on Saturday afternoon, after emergency services were notified of a boat adrift between Hundvåg and Langøy.

An attempt was made to rescue the heart and lungs, but shortly before 5 pm on Saturday, the man was pronounced dead at Stavanger University Hospital (SUS).

The deceased was 33 years old and lived in Hafrsfjord. The name will be released in consultation with relatives, police write in a press release.

According to investigation leader Morten Vestbø in the Southwest Police District, this is a tragic accident.

– Everything indicates that the man has gone out alone and fishing, and that he has ended up in the water due to an accident, Vestbø told Aftenbladet on Sunday.
