The man in his 40s charged yesterday with the murder of his own mother in Oslo, has been in a brief interrogation with the police today.

– He had his lawyer present and explained about an incident that connects him with the case in time and place. It was a brief interrogation and the man has not been fully questioned, Oslo police chief of intelligence and investigation Grete Lien Metlid tells Dagbladet.

Whether the man pleads guilty after the charge was not an issue in questioning.

– He has not been questioned and more details are needed that we have not yet delved into, says Metlid.

The man’s defender, attorney Marijana Lozic, confirms to Dagbladet that criminal guilt was not an issue during today’s questioning.

He also says the man was related to an incident yesterday, at his mother’s apartment. She doesn’t want to get too close to this.

– It’s clearly marked. It is also one of the reasons we ended the questioning early today, we also prefer to continue when appropriate, Lozic tells Dagbladet, adding that he has the impression that the client wants to explain further.

The man has been followed today by medical personnel and his mental health will likely be examined by observation. The police will also look at your history, and if there is anything there that can give them more answers.

The man’s arrest yesterday took place in a public place in Oslo, after the police found the woman dead.

The police moved into her apartment after receiving a report of concern from the health service.

The defendant and the deceased did not have the same residential address.

Custody

The accused has consented to his imprisonment, and will be presented for custody next Monday. However, this will be conducted as an office business, which means that the man will not have to appear personally in court.

All close relatives have been notified of the death.

Police are still investigating the case and an autopsy will be performed on the deceased.
