On Friday night, Cansel Godek, 22, was killed in his own home in Evje, Agder.

The ex-girlfriend, who has been arrested and charged with the murder, has admitted during interrogation that she is behind the death, but has not ruled on criminal guilt.

The two have a joint two-year-old daughter.

– That is precisely what the townspeople are talking about now. It is a terrible tragedy, that one of the 22-year-old young people in the village does not get to experience life, says Svein Arne Haugen (Labor Party), mayor of Evje and the municipality of Hornnes, to Fædrelandsvennen.

– dramatically

For Dagbladet, the mayor says that an emergency team was immediately created to help relatives.

On Saturday and Sunday, there was an offer at the multipurpose house in Evje for friends and others who would light a candle or talk to someone about the incident.

– It has been an offer for those who need it. We do what we can to care for those closest to us. Many knew her. She grew up here. It is a dramatic event, and we must have respect for family members, the mayor tells Dagbladet.

The daughter is cared for by the family and the child welfare service has been notified so they can follow up.

Dagbladet has been unable to obtain a comment from development assistance attorney Kristine Eide.

I even called the police

The defendant is from Afghanistan and has a temporary residence permit. He has lived in Norway since 2015.

– The author himself called the police and told them that he had quarreled with a person and that this person was already dead. The defendant has recently lived elsewhere in the country, the head of the prosecution section in the Agder police district, Cecilie Pedersen Hille, told a news conference on Saturday.

The investigation is in the initial phase and the police are working to determine what happened. The motive and motive for the murder will be central to the investigation.

– The accused has previously been unpunished, but the police knew him before. These are details that I cannot go into now, said Pedersen Hille.

Consent to incarceration

Police say they have no further information on the case on Sunday. Defender Bjørge Tveito tells Dagbladet that there has been no further questioning with his client.

After being questioned by police for nearly four hours on Saturday, there was a reading on Sunday.

A new questioning is scheduled for Tuesday.

The man will be released into custody on Monday.

My client accepts custody, says Tveito.
