The development of Norway’s densest central area needs a timeout.

Lagunen Eiendom wants to re-regulate Kalganehaugen, near the Lagunen shopping center, to a massive densification of housing.

Kalganehaugen is part of the general planning area that the municipality has reserved for densification and central area. Details were presented in relation to the planned start-up of New Lagoon.

The solution should rather, it would be to return Kalganehaugen to a green lung and build on the current building stock in ‘Lagunebyen’. This will be in line with the plan for the area around the Laguna.

All cities have a park. The lagoon city does not have a lagoon or park, so at least two green lungs should be maintained at each end of the area: Råtjørna in the south and Kalganehaugen in the north.

How about a study trip to Åsane and Horisont? There you see how you can continue with housing instead of business.

Inhabitants of the surrounding area has paid enough for the development. Therefore, one must keep Kalganehaugen as a green lung. In this way the area can achieve a good balance.

How about calling it Laguneparken or Apeltunparken? It could be one of the most central parks in Fana.
