The corona virus will also hit Norway in 2021. Now the government is removing the veil on how big the bill will be next year.

Two days before the state budget for 2021 is presented, Prime Minister Erna Solberg warns that billions will be spent to tackle the pandemic next year.
– The last few months have shown us that the corona pandemic is not over yet. We will also do whatever it takes to keep Norway safe during the corona pandemic next year. Therefore, we will spend approximately 25 billion crowns to handle the pandemic next year, Solberg tells VG.
The Prime Minister, on the other hand, is secretive about how the money should be spent.
You will know the details when we present the state budget on Wednesday, but I can say that we will spend a lot of money on medical care and emergency preparedness in the health sector. And not least for vaccines. But also money for basic services such as town halls, public transport and the police. Build security and confidence in a demanding time, says Solberg.
The Minister for Children and Equality, Kjell Ingolf Ropstad, also confirms that some of the measures will ensure that the worst affected industries stay afloat during the crisis, in addition to creating activity in public transport, tourism and cultural life.
– The 25 billion will be used throughout 2021, so we will see what will be the need for new packages or adjustments in the revised budget before the summer holidays, says Ropstad.
When the government presented new economic measures two weeks ago, it was also announced that it expects the price of the crown measures this year to be NOK 126.3 million. It was NOK 42.3 million less than what was estimated relative to when a previous crisis package was discussed in the Storting.
